Yombo Vocational
Rehabilitation Training Centre
The training centre is situated on
the south-west direction of the Dar es Salaam city centre, nearby Yombo TAZARA
station found long Nyerere road. The centre was established aiming at providing
vocation training and capacity building for two years in various trades to the
youth, in particularly person with disabilities. Usually we enroll students who
have different kinds of disabilities that include physical impairment, blind,
deaf, albino and mental retardation. Currently the training centre offering the
following courses:

- · Electrical Installation
- · Welding and fabrication
- · Tailoring
- · Carpentry and joinery
- · Weaving and batik
- · Masonry
· Basic agriculture, poultry and animal husbandry
Minimum entry qualification required
is standard VII graduates and the maximum age of an applicant is 35 years.

VETA
The
Vocational Educational and Training Authority (VETA) was established by an Act
of Parliament No. 1 of 1994 charged with broad tasks of coordinating,
regulating, financing, Promoting and providing vocational education and
training in Tanzania.
The
history of VETA dates back to 1940 when the Apprenticeship Ordinance was
enacted to guide training in the industry. The Vocational Training Act of
1974, which established the National Vocational Training Division was
replaced by the Vocational Educational and Training Act. of 1994.
Among of the overall objectives of VETA according
to Act No. 1 of 1994 include:

Patandi Teachers' College of Special Needs Education
Patandi Teachers' College is situated in Arusha Region, 12 km east
of Arusha town, along the Moshi-Arusha Road. It is the sole college that trains
teachers for special needs education in Tanzania. It started training
specialist teachers in 1996, when the government decided to move the training
from Tabora Teachers' College.
Currently the college has certificate level studies and higher
awards. It was selected for this training due to the following conditions:
Ideal environment and climate for both local and foreign professionals reliable
communications network for both domestic and international all year round
within easy reach of other related disciplines for our training programmers
availability of adequate land for expansion of other infrastructures.
