MUSA SULEIMAN, 54 years, no education,
physical disability
My name is Musa Suleiman, I was born
in 1956 in Ngomelo district. First I got a disability at the age of ten years.
After that I got sick and my parents were not able to pay for my treatment and as
a result I became completely disabled. I went to school up to 7th
class.
My family has accepted me and I never
experienced any discrimination from them. I do not have any skills. In order to
survive I am doing small business at city center (Kongo street, Dar es Salaam).
My relationship with my family is good although some of the relatives give me
support and others do not.
I am not happy with my life because in
the area where I am doing business the local policemen (mgambo) are disturbing
us and sometimes they take away our business. In short I am not settled. In
case I get permanent work or good area for doing my business it will help me to
gain more and make my life more meaningful. My dream was to become independent
and be able to work for myself like others and have a good house. Up to now I
am just renting one room.
I do not know any law or rights of
disable people.
